Today is National Napping Day. Please, tell my wife. I need it for immune health.

Today is National Nap Day. The only thing better would be a National Weekend Nap Day While The Yard, The Plumbing Caulkimz_6466764_bodyshot_300x400-5.gif Sleep in the office me image by DebtFreeng and The Garage Cleaning Waits.

Still, you are empowered. I am giving you solid information here that shows how regular napping can improve health and even save your life. So tell your spouse, your boss, your live-in mother in law that naps are essential if you are to function at optimal health and efficiency.

National Napping Day was started in 1999 by a Boston University professor who researched the impact of naps on health. He says that Churchill napped. Da Vinci napped. Heck, I’ve even seen pictures of Dick Cheney napping. If it’s good enough for them, it’s more than good enough for me.

To excerpt part of the Boston Globe story linked above:  “…sleep at any time of day acts like a valve to release the stress of everyday life. Blood pressure is reduced and heart rates slow. At the same time, the immune system shores itself up. Increasingly, researchers are recognizing the role the immune system plays in heart disease.”

So let’s nap away. No more than 20 minutes, though, otherwise, that’s known as a Power Snooze. Which reminds me, next week is International Power Snooze Week….

Why can’t every day be National Napping Day? :) I do agree, a short nap can do wonders. How great to know it’s good for our immune health, too.
