Stress and immune defense: Another “C” for “clearly outdated”
Here’s another summary on stress and physical illness at About.com. It’s a good write up, but it ends with that old familiar myth: Megadoses of vitamin C can supercharge your immune system to help ward off stress-related physical ailments.
There’s no doubt that viatmin C is an essential nutrient. It’s classified as a vitamin, for goodness sake, and is crucial in many basic cell functions. And it does help maintain certain aspects of immune system performance and fight free radicals with its antioxidant properties. But the vitamin C supercharge/boost concept has been nuked.
