Welcome aboard. We’d like to give you a boost, but…
…it probably wouldn’t help. We’re proud to launch this new community platform that deals with the growing interest in balanced immune health. Through this site we want to spur discussion and exchange information on how the human immune system impacts everyday health and quality of life.
The angle we take is this: Balance, not boost. That means debunking the age-old notion that overloading on vitamin C or zinc can charge your immune system and keep you insulated from sickness. Research is showing a new approach to immune health — a balance between killer cells, helper cells and suppressor cells and the way they operate with body’s immune defense network — offers greater promise for long-term health benefits and lasting impacts that go well beyond cold and flu season.
We’ll talk about the many things that contribute to a healthy, balanced immune system: lifestyle, diet and nutrition, sleep, stress management and other factors.
I hope you’ll share your thoughts and experiences. We want this to be a site for anyone and everyone interested in their long term health. We don’t look to make this a technical site, though we’ll try to summarize the compelling science as it emerges. We welcome your views, pro or con, If you’re a researcher or health professional and want to put forth more technical arguments, that’s great. We may summarize them if need be, and offer follow up from our technical contributors in a way that addresses the issue without biochemistry overload.
So welcome aboard and come back often. After all, doesn’t everyone want to live a balanced life?
