Shawn Johnson knows balance … or does she?

Great balance pays off in more ways than one
I live in Iowa, right next door to West Des Moines, home of Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson. It goes without saying, we’re all proud of her fantastic performances in Beijing. In reading about her preparation prior to winning gold on the balance beam, it was reported she was feeiling ill. Headache, stomach ache and the like. All present during her warm-ups.
Who knows the cause — cohabitating with all those athletes in the Olympic Village and at the gym, 10 days of unconventional food (no wait, I forgot. The athletes are served special meals brought with them from the States), little sleep in the partying Olympic Village, or enduring the enormous stress of worldwide expectations for winning every event?
Could immune balance have helped stave off that flu-like crud?
